Finally got the gumption to do a camel cut on my front bumper. Both fog lights had been broken and removed from previous encounters with things off-road. My bumper cover and brush guard had been sitting in a friend's garage for the past few years. While removed, I upgraded to a LT265/75/16 which rubbed on the recently reinstalled front bumper slightly while turning sharply. No more tire rubbing!

Today I finished installing the D1 CDL that has been sitting in my garage for months. Took me two days and two trips to the hardware store to get it done, but it's done... did a quick test drive on a section of trail that has given me trouble in the past... what a difference! No more spinning tires, no more powering through, no more relying on momentum... just easy, slow, controlled trail driving.

Installed a new Hyundai EVAP Purge valve and replaced all those dumb snap clips on the hoses. Hopefully it fixes my P0441.

Finally started a whole slew of electrical work on my D2.
Last night I wired a harness for the front Hella 4000's I have mounted on the front of the ARB bumper.

Quick tip, Expedition Exchange stocks replacement Land Rover Multi Plug Connectors if you want to hook lights to extra OEM buttons on the Dash. ($5 a connector). The wires from your new lights will go to terminal 1 and 4, existing earth will go to 5 and 2 is for the switch illumination.

In order to get some time to work on the truck, i had to promise to fix my eldest boy's electric Range Rover. My Brother got it for him for Christmas last year but now it wouldn't charge. I pulled it apart to find that whoever assembled the car, glued the battery terminals to the connecting wires ? Over time, the glue melted and created a non conductive layer between the terminals and the wiring. The wee man took it out for a test drive and it did ok on the stamped concrete driveway, but once he got into the dirt, the car quickly developed a transmission fault and would only go in reverse. Time for some more TLC!

I also found that i'm increasingly using the tailgate of the RRC as a mobile workbench

Today I installed JATE rings in place of the stock recovery points.

Put in new Akebono Brake Pads and EBC rotors on the rear axle. Went well, lots of rust, and took some patience, but not a bad job.

Nothing on my own, but had someone referred to me who had recently changed his head gasket on his 2004 D2 and had P0135, P0154, and P0155 pop up after all the work was done. Hooked up the Autocom and found B1S1 voltage fluctuating nicely, but B2S1 was a steady 4.50V and not changing. Found the sensor not fully seated in the harness. Seated the connector and voltage began fluctuating. Problem solved.

I just got back from a camping trip with the High Desert Four Wheelers club at Kennedy Meadows. (Eastern Sierras, Southern California, for those of you not familiar with the location). We ran Monache Meadows 4x4 trail Friday afternoon and Sherman Pass 4x4 trail(black diamond rating) on Saturday... my Rover performed admirably, thanks in part to the recently installed center diff lock. It took me though sections I thought for sure I'd need to be pulled through... Rocky climbs, small boulders, sandy sections, and everything else those trails had to offer were no problem(though there were plenty of pucker moments for me as a driver). Everyone on the runs was impressed with my rig's performance, and my ability as a driver (I think I was more surpised and impressed than anyone else). I knew Rovers were capable vehicles, but I didn't know I, as a driver, could do that in MY Rover.
