It wasn’t today but I winched a guy in a cavalier out of a ditch last week. I had him attach the cable as I didn’t want to crawl through the wet snow nor take responsibility. Well on my first attempt I ripped a chunk of pipe off his car. So I had to direct him the second time. After I got him out and drove away I realized that was his gas filler neck. Lol. Poor kid.

Which insulation did you go with? I'm thinking of doing this in the summer time.

I bought the Noico butyl foil back for the first layer and then the Noico 8mil foam for second layer.

I want to get internal heat down as much as possible and make at least comfortable if I ever sleep in it (I have a rather expensive Eureka tent I usually use)

I read up on some overlander and van builds, and this seems to be the best method that doesn’t involve false panels.

did not buy dynamat, second skin, etc because they are all VERY similar to the Noico anyway

I installed the giant Mobile 1 oil filter # 301 while doing my oil change today. I used Rotella's 15W40 and added 2 ounces of TurboMaxx to eliminate stiction and provide more metal on metal protection for longer engine life. Now my capacity is closer to 7 full quarts of oil.

I didn't need the extra oil pressure, but still... a little extra oil capacity means that much more cooling capacity. I got a deal on eBay: 2 for $20 so $10 each delivered for those 301 filters, but now I see that Walmart.com is selling the even bigger Purolator L40316 for $8 so I'd probably go that way after I use up the other Mobile 1 301 oil filter some day.

Large oil filters rule.

I use the Mobil 301 too, but I doubt that more oil in the pan increases cooling capacity, since it doesn't increase the surface of the pan. The cooling effect of the pan is negligible compared to an oil cooler. The most efficient method to bring oil temps down is adding an oil cooler, if not equipped. Per my experience it brought oil temps down up to 20 degrees F under the very same condition.

How do you feel about drain+refills without changing the 301 oil filter every time?

That's the safest way, for sure.

I wonder if a *lot* of Disco 2 owners are missing out on the added oil pressure and oil capacity of using the bigger oil filters like the 301 or the Purolator compared to the OEM-size-small generics?
