I finally washed Myrtle since February and added Captain Tolley’s creeping crack cure all around the windscreen and gutters to seal off water leaks.
Started with Installing my new outer A-Piller cowls since one is cracked and the other one missing. I then got a bright idea to join together and extend up higher my front diff and gearbox 6mm OD breather tubes and route it under the new RH A-Pillar cowl.
It got too dark to finish it tonight and plus I ran out of beer.

Once again, I think I've got a sickness. I've decided once again to commit myself to the torment of owning another land rover. This makes my fourth, three of which I still own, and two of which don't run. At least not consistently.

This one on the other hand, runs. It's an '01 with 229k miles. It has an overheating issue. New radiator, new hoses, new thermostat, new power steering pump, new battery. Came with new brake pads and a new master cylinder. Starter is weak, but I've got a spare. Alternator may or may not charge, but again I've got a spare. Cooling issue I should be able to solve. Could just be the fact that there's no top section of the fan shroud.

And what did I pay you ask? Well I split the cost with a buddy. He's getting the headlights and I'm trading front clips with him. I keep everything else.

We paid $400 together, so my investment into this beautiful machine is $200.

Oh, and did I mention it came with an iCarsoft scanner? Well neither did the seller! I just opened the door and there it was! Score!!

My plans for this puppy are simple: throw some tires and a lift on it which I already have, do the option B bypass to cure the 3 amigos, make it stay cool, and just beat the daylights out of it off road. I'm tickled to death to have a running Disco again.

I've also got some structural steel tubing that I'll make some bumpers out of, and I'll put some basic exhaust on it. Cut the cats to recoup some of the money I've spent. Just a couple glass packs dumped most likely.

Can't wait to get this puppy off road.

Everyone, meet Frankie Jr.! (Gotta stick to the theme)

swapped the roof rack over from the white to the green one in preparations for our CO -> VA road trip this weekend. Going to be back in VA for 3 weeks and I am super excited to have a disco with me back home for a little bit!

@Alex_M I tried to send you a PM but your inbox is full...looking to see if you had any trail recommendations in the Smith Mountain Lake area? Will be there all next week and it's not an area I've spent a lot of time in the past.

Drove 200 miles from home in Birmingham, Alabama to Blue Ridge Georgia for a weekend in the mountains. Just getting to our cabin leads you up a super steep gravel road with lots of mud. Of course the Disco lives it!

Ah, I didn't realize, I'll clear it out. Thanks.

I don't spend much time in the middle VA and beyond areas, I generally head any of the other three directions. However, I found three that aren't too far from that area. I've never been on any of these, but if you check them out let me know how they are!

Ordered a front driveshaft for the 02' after hearing some noise coming from under the vehicle... lots of side-to-side play in addition to the two highlighted areas that have failed. (Still lots of Georgia red clay under the vehicle from my last off road trek.) Guess I could have just replaced the u-joints, but for the price decided to order a new driveshaft (from Lucky8). I had this replaced years ago with a serviceable driveshaft (at the shop), but plan to DIY this time. Doesn't look too difficult if I can get to all the bolts while tires are on the ground. The one thing I've learned is nothing as easy as it seems. We'll see.

Good find!! If you want to make it easier, you should start spraying the penetrating oil now!
