I also use a lot of anti-seize, but I would especially use it in hot locations.

Sorry, going to hang on to engine (and everything else for that matter), for another Dll.

maybe it’s time to look at that classic near by Deputy! After wheeling this truck it’s going to be hard to get back in the disco for camping season this summer!

I'll be driving by them tomorrow...

But truth be told...been kicking around the idea of building a "street capable" Series l, 109, with the remains of old whitey. Guy around the corner has a 109 with a rotted out frame, and probably never going to tackle it. The thoughts of an old 109 with better ride, coils and modern steering components...would be a neat build. Maybe not to the purest...but...l'm to old and care too little to worry about those folks...lol.

Picture for attention...1963 109 series station wagon. Similar to what l'm looking at.

Kind of thought about changing gears and going with a different brand for my next endeavor, since both Dll's were totalled (granted, one is repairable) and the defender has done nothing but fight me, but after cruising market place and craigslist looking at different brands...ended up looking at LR's again...because nothing else excited me.

That would be my dream LR. Please, please, if you build it and ever decide to sell it, let me know first.

Got it registered in my name here in Cal-hightax-ifornia. $612!!!

We have to have front plates here too. My front bumper has two holes in the front to mount a license plate, but I cannot figure out what size bolts/screws to use. 2000 Disco. Anyone know what size they are?

Default Hendo's Disco 2

What I did with the Disco today (this weekend):

Water Pump Replacement
Radiator Replacement
PCV Mod

Runs smoother than before. Radiator and water pump really challenged me; I've never done anything like that before. Now, all 3 major fail points in the coolant system have been replaced (thermostat, water pump, and radiator.) Next upgrade to the coolant system will be the bypass mod.

Next priority will be either the prop shaft (considering upgrading to heavy duty) or shocks/struts. I'm leaning prop shaft as I'm getting a shimmy at 35mph+. My goal is to get her camper towing worthy. So I know I have some other upgrades I'll need to do. It doesn't have air bags. Are those worth the investment?

Just some minor details got handled, like aligning front wheels.

Black LED side markers went in.

Also rear seat carpet went back in, passenger side front carpet went in, passenger seat went back in and collected a hand full of american small coins all aver the floors.
Need to save up for new upholstery for the front seats. Luckily I had a spare sets of black leather rear seats from my TD5 that had intact upholstery so I can replace those in this.... ONLY IF... I would have NOT ripped them apart a few months ago and taken to recycle as I have no space to store them... f***.

I would remove driveshaft and inspect it, if it is already greasable and in good shape no need to replace. Your shimmy at 35+ is likely tire balance, would recommend having that checked first. Since you seem to be tackling the new to ownership items I would recommend checking the idle pulleys condition - they usually give you plenty of warning but not everones ear is tuned to the noise of a bearing going bad. Check the Tcase fluid is a good idea, some have ruined tcases by running them low. If your cowl is in good shape or even only has one crack I would consider removing and coating with bedliner. The UV is terrible to them and they are known to break for no reason and fly off. If you live in an environment where it rains regularly you might want to consider removing the headliner and addressing the roof leaks.
