It's funny, too, that you posted this because I only realized this past week that our Discos have aluminum body panels but steel roofs and doors. I was trying to use a magnetized bolt holder while installing my ladder and kept getting pissed because it wouldn't stick to the rear quarter panel.
Aluminum body panels (or aluminium to the Brits) has a long history with Land Rover.
Very very cool. Are you worried about surface rust on the doors though coming through? (ie removing all paint and primer... exposed metal... covered by new finish seems like it would rust quickly)
The steel panels which are the roof and doors are protected. The entire room was primed and coated with bedliner so I m not worried about that area at all. The doors were sealed using Shark Hide as well as the bedliner for the Union Jack flags so not worried very much but time will tell. Worst case I strip and redo in the future or change to a new look
Just got this home over the weekend. Well kept example! Groany ps, sagging headliner, and getting rid of side steps are the only things needing attention. Ultra gauge arrives today as well. Excited for our first disco!

Not so much what I did today but I went on my 1st camping trip with our local rover group 20 trucks in all and all models of rovers Included. It was my 1st big road trip in the truck 1300kms round trip with a lot of hard-core off road in between but the truck handled flawlessly and I got 18mpg on the highway with the AC on. I also slept on the back seats with a pillow against the door and somehow survived 3 nights like that. All in all was an amazing time and would do it again.
