You can remove the stock carrier and with minor modification you can reinstall it upside down. Takes about 20 minutes and allows you up to a 33" tire. I've flipped quite a few, works great.

No need for modding the carrier, just turn the wiper a bit more upwards.

I started getting some key sticking issues and also having to find the sweet spot to turn on the ignition, so made the decision to replace the ignition barrel with a Lucky8 Ignition Lock Switch Retrofit Kit - price wise was more than half that of Atlantic British. However, they have a great video tutorial which made the installation fairly straightforward. Interestingly, the share bolts had been replaced at some point, though the ignition barrel was original Land Rover

This made the installation quicker - but now have an extra key on the ring!

Dervish, moving the wiper arm helps, but tires larger than 32ish will not clear the bumper.

I was going to work on my locking issue but now I have decide which driveshaft to buy. Recently bought the truck and heard about the front driveshaft taking out transmissions. Decided to dig deep and found this. Probably explains my weird hum on deceleration too.

Second weak into disco ownership, we got oil leaks lol. Not sure where, but only a couple drops after a drive.

Detailed and ordering pcv valve and t-stat mods!

Clark's Grade coming home from Big Bear, CA. This weekend the Socal Rovers Club pre-ran trails for Rover Rendezvous in September.

I have a 285/75/16 Toyo open country mt on my TD5, stock carrier, flipped, turned the wiper a bit up, and it clears the bumper, just.

By some tirecalculators it's ~32.8", havent measured the actual size tho.

Maybe someday can spend on a steel rear bumper and bumper mounted tirecarrier, but having 3 discos, the list to do and to buy... is looooooooong....

Same, I have had 33s on more than one flipped carrier.

You can clock the wiper arm instead of trimming the carrier, but you do still need to redrill the center bolt hole on either side to line back up with the hole in the door.

I'm jealous! That's the red color I wanted when I bought my truck 20+ years ago! It's called Rutland Red. I don't know production numbers, but I think it's more uncommon than the red on my truck, Rioja Red. Not as uncommon as the orangeish Kinversand, but uncommon.

I think Rutland Red was available on the DII for only the first couple years. The darker red on later DIIs was Alveston Red, which I called Why Bother Red.

Where are you located?
