They are such beast in the snow/ice. The combo of heavy weight in a small footprint, oversize tires (even stock), TC, high ground clearance, all together it laughs at weather.

I am down in Lynchburg Va. 4 inches of ice. Locals are building igloos out of ice chunks from clearing the driveway and ice skating in their yards.

I have noticed a divergence in the 4x4 Regimes:

1. Traditonal SUV 4x4 form factors: Wrangle, Bronco, Defender, Land Cruiser
2. Full Size trucks and SUV platforms from Big
3. Midsize SUV and trucks
4. Classics

Traditionals do well off-road
Full size are now too big to be effective. Colorado is same exterior size of Full Size C/K from the 60s or 70's. Actual Silverado or Tahoe is Gigantic at this point. So heavy almost impossible to move over obstacle unless dry. The modern ones make my 06 Duramax look small
Midsize - Wifes Tiguan with stolen LR center **** tech got stuck leaving the driveway
Classics - Winner winner chicken dinner - Everyone can tell when the going gets rough.

we had 8+ inches of snow here in StL. both my '04 Discovery and my wife's '11 LR4 did wonderfully on the roads. quite a bit better than the diesel bros and other pickup truck drivers.

A front wheel drive Geo Metro can do better than a LR if it has better tires

Took mine apart looking for an oil or coolant leak behind the power steering bracket. Coolant will pool on the top of the water pump and the whole bottom of the engine is a mess with the leaks blowing back the drive train. This bolt covered in oil was weird to find, not sure why there's oil there.

Replacing noisy idler bearings while in at it.

My windshield squirters have been, weak, intermittent.

Tried replacing the pump 2 years ago. Same.
Bought new hose assembly from LR for the hood w/ the one way valves and 2 new nozzles last year. Yet still intermittent weak operation - like 50% of the time. Finally got fed up with it .

Blowing thru all hoses worked fine. I was mystified. I filled up the reservoir with a mixture of 120 degree water (hot but not too hot), dish soap, and ran it through the front/rear/headlamp squirters with the 2 hood nozzles disconnected. Got a little better. Did it again. Even better. Then ran 2 full tanks of 120 degree water without soap through, then 1 tank of cold water from the hose.

And perfect full force squirters now. My car has sat / low miles over the years so I think it was just clogged up.

Finally NO DRIPS! Getting ready for upcoming 1200 round trip highway and lots of sand driving. Wanted to just get these last leaks done before going. Thursday getting it undercoated.

Now I can move on to fun stuff, like interior cleaning and installing the windscreen decal I made. Thanks to all in the many years of posting here, I dug up a lot of old threads to finish this chapter of repairs!

I have a 1994 4 door idi bronco (currently in pieces haha) and had taken it on a few trails. It's so giant and heavy, all I did back then was help a lot of people practice their recovery techniques on me 😂 it had slightly bigger tires, which actually ruined my turning radius. I'm glad I only went out with friends, I wouldn't take it now, I'd get murdered by an impatient more experienced person behind me probably

Default Cold Air After 10 Years

Finally! And such a simple fix and saved me a few hundred dollars or even a thousand. I managed to fix my AC by swapping out the original fuse box with another I had and just like and a press of a button the dang blower motor kicks on. This after spending $$$ buying and swapping out parts. And it’s all because of some rain water that leaked in from outside but oh I’m not stopping at the ac that was a quick and easy fix. I’m currently working on redoing the gutter and everything else that has a potential for leakage.

Then afterwards I went over the finer parts with a pick. Wasn’t much work to do for those of you thinking about doing it. I still haven’t gotten to the part of resealing it.

This honestly wasn’t too bad. It helped with a tool from harbor freight. It was a pack of nylon chisels that you can resharpen with a file. I got the smallest one but had to file the sides in order to fit snuggly in the gutter. Then you scrap it all out. I thought it faster than using a flathead our pick.
