Default where to buy 02 sensors

So 3 out of 4 o2 sensors were not working out of the box. Mechanic says the heaters on them are not working. His price was $173 for front and $137 for back. Anybody able to do better? Since he put the first ones in, I purchased them from ebay, I know I can get them off now so I may take it back and put this set on myself. Got a bad shoulder so there was no way I could get the first set off.

The one from Amazon are POS. I have had to return them 3 times. My last ones did not even last 6 months. When I called amazon they told me that they were getting so many returns they were going to stop carrying them.

eBay sensors don't work, period. As for Amazon, buying them through Amazon doesn't make any difference. They carry genuine Bosch and will have the same supplier as everyone else. Sadly, genuine Bosch are the only ones that will work. I haven't had any problems with them, myself.

I've used the appropriate Bosch universal (splice) replacements on many vehicles (including numerous Land Rovers) over the years. Never had a problem. There's no need to replace the plug unless you damage it, but the sensor construction is critical.

If you do some legwork, you can find alternate OE Bosch sensors made for different vehicles that have different plugs and are even cheaper than the "universals". Just cut the plug off and splice it in. Using this method, I've been able to get genuine sensors for ~$15-20 each, but it's a pain in the butt to do the homework and figure our what will work.
