That is what you get when you buy a previously own car. Oh well, new parts on order here on the 29th. So I guess the 2006 gets to do the bulk of the driving this week.

...and had a nice drive up the beach to the Virginia line and back. LR3 did perfectly.

 

I did valve cover gaskets - 260K miles. I guess it was time.

 

Oil change with a Fumoto valve installed. I think I have had this valve for almost a year, just never got around to it! Now next time I can toss a hose on there and make the oil change a lot less messy. I have not tired it, but I wonder if I can reach the valve from along the half shaft to open if. If so I may install a permanent hose so I can change oil without dropping the massive aftermarket skid plate - of course I am not sure if the oil filler can be removed from the side access anyway...

 

By chance do you know if you have oil filter access when you remove only the front bumper lip skid plate? I too have aftermarket skid plates to the transmission and removing them all for an oil change becomes a bit of a tedious workout. I’m thinking of doing the Fumoto valve myself. Looks great.

 

Found the leak I’ve had in my windshield. First it was the cowl leaking, then the drain tubes, then the A-pillar. Now I’ve found the final leak… I pray! I used a real fine white powdery substance then used compressed air from inside the vehicle. Super easy method to find a leak.

 

Interesting use of Cocaine. Expensive, but effective.

Having sunroof issues so removed the glass panel and cleaned out the tracks, lubed with ptfe spray and tried the calibration procedure but still doesn't operate correctly.
Only closes 3/4 the way and then stops, will open but then stops and a reset required to operate it again.

 

Numerous calibration attempts didn't work so used the gap tool to do a soft rest ( also didnt work ) but a hard reset did, i usually leave it tilted open in summer but with my luck we'll get a summer thunderstorm and i'll have another swimming pool in the car.
