Put the fishing rods and sand spikes on the roof last night for our 16 hour drive from Maine to NC. Even packed the lunchbox with stinky fishing stuff.
OK finally finished my front grill light bar instal to go with the ditch lights I installed a couple weeks ago. The color temperature actually is quite close between the ditch lights and the light bar (not as differing as the photo makes it look).
Close up of the light bar set in place where a section of the grill was cut out/removed to accommodate the light bar. Purposely cut the hole a little snug to support the light and take some stress off the mounts. The light bar stays in place even w/o the 4 anti-theft Torx screws screwed into the holes of the mounts into the grill. I'll probably cut the hole a bit bigger top/bottom so that I can better adjust the angle light bar projects light (need to angle it down just a little more).
Used Triple-R A-Pillar ditch light mounts and Grill mounts with lights that I sourced myself. The ditch lights are Rigid Industries 20221BLK D-Series Midnight Edition Black Spot patten Ditch lights. The light bar in the grill is a Hella Black Magic LED Series 20" Slim Lightbar which matches the stock grill's grid pattern nicely. No interference with the front camera.
Took some minor customization to make it all work/fit, but nothing major. Did not have to fully remove the front trim, just unclipped the upper grill to get some access to route the power cable for the light bar.
The little ditch lights I thought were pretty bright but this Hella light bar is another level of increased light output. Very pleased with the result, super stable/solid mounting solution and didn't break the bank or have to do anything super invasive to the Defender.
This weekend, I installed Hunters Prestige side steps, rear bumper checker cover & rotated tires (just hit 5,000 miles). While I as at it, I replaced the rear tire on the GS.
Got the side and rear MOLLE plates (almost totally empty so far, figuring out what we want to be there and how we want to fasten that), drop down table (long and scary story coming elsewhere), and the Thule Motion 3 XL on top of the Expedition Roof Rack with 30mm custom risers (also elsewhere later).
