So what did you do to your Disco today?
Just Replaced the rear brake light bulb on my Disco 1!
What an experience......
On scale 1 - 10 (ten being difficult)
Transfer case oil change :2
Tools needed 1
Rear brake bulb replacement :9
Tools needed 6
Surely not designed for self maintenance!

After removal of spacer lift and installed Terrafirma + 2 big bore shocks and springs I did not remove the l extension on the Anti roll bar bracket.
I have also installed a spacer because on full travel the prop shaft touched the anti roll bar.
On stock Disco's I saw it is mounted directly on the chassis.
Any suggestions please.....
Should I make it shorter?
Should I take it totally back to the chassis?
Should I cut it half way back?
Will it affect the pinion angle?

I pulled both of mine and haven't looked back.
Huh, really? I'm kind of surprised. Any chance they're not high end joints or something? Perhaps I should just KISS and not get to out there with this stuff. I am pretty tempted to fabricate my own suspension arms and tie rod centers...the aftermarket stuff is nice looking but pretty pricey.
This sounds like the solution for right now, just replace the ends. The center rod and drag link are not damaged, just a matter of getting the old ends out I suppose. PB and pipe wrenches!
For trailing arms johnny joints are the way to go. They will allow movement like a hiem but have a much longer lifespan
What Ian said. And honestly, if you plan on offroading upgrading your steering rods now is the best way to go about it I think. You're in MI so I bet you'll have fun getting the old TRE's out of the stock rods.
If you do try to salvage the old rods heat, PB, and pipe wrenches as you mentioned.

Yeah, I guess I was thinking more of the JJ's vs real heims. Depends on what will work in which location.
