Since this is a rich thread on general D5 maintenance, I thought I'd ask here;
would it be worthwhile cleaning/de-greasing the throttle body [LR078546], as part of maintenance?

This is a job I am planning on doing. I think it will be beneficial.
Of course, if you tackle it first, take pics and give us your feedback.
I'm at least three weeks out to do it.
This weekend Evoque tranny and diffs..... My VW is at my gurus for clutch kit.... Next weekend is Spring Safari Uwharrie NC.......9-12th

Any chance you'd have torque specs on the throttle body bolts? I can give it a shot but I don't want to over-tighten things on re-assembly.
I'm still debating if I should remove the butterfly valve motor and submerge the remaining composite part in a detergent/oven cleaner mix of some kind vs. clean the whole assembly with a toothbrush + brake cleaner (avoiding motor disassembly + re-adaptation).

Toothbrush and carb cleaner is what I use on my LR3 and my friends Roo.
I'll have to try and find torque spec.... In the meantime my guess is 6 to 8 Nm
Bad news for my oil level sensor. She gone. I won't be fixing that anytime soon. Got to pull motor, Its in the oil pan.
Oh well, on to Uwharrie Safari this weekend in NC!
Oil level indication failure was the first (and only) chronic problem in my new D5 after I took delivery in 2017. Took it in for service several times (all under warranty) but whatever they did to restore it didn't last until they ordered a new sensor and, after installing it, made sure all connections were secure. Haven't had any problems with it since then. I've now owned the D5 long enough to know that it doesn't use any oil so if the oil level sensor fails again, I'm going to ignore it. I find it incomprehensible that the engine does not have an engine oil dipstick and I'm wondering if the identical engine used in Ford vehicles here has a dipstick.

I agree, let it ride.... I am going to throw a hail Mary at it for the last extended warranty claim. I can take it in on 5-17-24, and see what they say.

I tried opening the throttle body but couldn't get the locking clip off. Removed the air intake hose instead and used a borescope to check the carb build up.
Interestingly, to the naked eye it doesn't seem so bad @35k miles. Borescope camera makes it look a lot worse (I'll post pictures shortly).
I hope to take another swing at it over the weekend.
