Default Month One

D2 seems to be coming around after investing in parts/supplies/time, doing a bit of mx every day and regularly putting on miles to build my confidence in the machine.

During under bonnet post drive inspection yesterday noticed coolant tank seep/leak along seam and the belt tensioner was tapping/jerking slightly. More parts on order. Also noticed for first time a nice sewing machine like sound at valve covers.

R&R'd air filter element today installing a Mann "C 25 146" which appears to fit/seal much better than the floppy Fram removed.

Took the young one "puddle jumping" in my D2. He had a blast. I ended up with pending misfire codes on 4, 6, and 8.

Finished installing new sump gasket, and new stainless steel brake lines on the rear. Tomorrow front brakes, and then on to overhaul the cooling system.

Got my spare wheel in yesterday. Took it to Discount Tire and had the tire installed. Mounted it up and it just fit 😊

I've replaced the oil pan gasket, and it appears to have stopped the leak. Fingers crossed.

Today we painted the front calipers black and the inside of the cover that sits inside the rotor. I was just tired of looking at the rusty ugly thing.

I painted my ladder with Eastwood rubberized undercoating as it rusted out. I had peeled off the coating earlier. I'm curious to see how long, or if, it holds off the rust.

Installed leather parking brake boot and transfer case boot to replace those haggard original boots. Still working on cosmetics. Gotta hit the mechanical stuff soon!

Default Tag Light

Found one of my tag lights out. Apparently had been inop for sometime, lamp compartment full of dirty water, negative wire broken at terminal and spring clip/holder badly corroded. Removed corrosion, installed new terminal and ops check good. Deferred gasket leak until later date.

Default Wipers Good To Go

Installed a new BRITPART D2 rear wiper arm. Due to washer spray issue swapped nozzle from broken arm. Ops check good with Silblade RB114D mentioned in previous post 3002 as not recommended now works very well.

Valeo D2 front wiper blades PN 800-21-4 installed a few weeks ago are performing perfectly in the rain and are smooth/silent.

Default A/C Clutch Bearing Repack & Belt Tensioner

Wised up a bit today after a couple of past PIA serpentine belt installations on my D2. Prior to this morning's project removed the upper fan guard and fan/clutch assembly for easier/better access. With fan/clutch removed it was also easy to check water pump for bearing wear.

Removed a/c clutch pulley and repacked bearing with grease.

Installed new belt tensioner due to tapping/jerking.

Ops check good and silence is golden after 60 mile run.
