What did you do with your DII today?

That sucks Alex!! When I was rebuilding my 500.00 4.6L that was the first thing I inspected. That is a PITA job..... The tool that works well is like 300.00 and I've never seen anyone rent one sadly. I've watched a few home made tool video's and then watched a video with the 300.00 tool and it was night and day.
I'm pretty sure my 04 with the flickering oil light has the same problem. Whenever I'm over all of these infant/kindergarten viruses/plagues I'll hopefully find the darn time before the peak of summer to rip out the 04's engine, install my rebuilt unit and go from there. I know all of my work was spot on, but I'm still a bit nervous as I never heard the 500.00 engine run. My 500.00 03 D2 runs darn good, and I actually would feel more comfortable slapping it into my 04 after I did a quick HG job (so easy out of the D2). We'll just have to see when I find the time to do stuff.
Good luck Alex and keeping posting pics and updates.

Oooohhhhhhhhh boy. Thanks for the well wishes, fellas. Unfortunately no such luck. It appears I've got 2 lobes wiped on my Kent Sports cam. Only 25k miles on that sucker. I don't blame the cam though. The guy that did my head gaskets also installed my cam and I've had trouble with every single thing he touched. Luckily the cake was the last bit, but I'm still a bit bitter about that. $2500 worth of work down the drain. Exactly the reason I don't trust mechanics to touch my vehicles anymore.
Oh well, life goes on. I guess I'll have to get a cam on order from L8 also. Any idea on the ship times for a Crower cam? Do they keep them in stock? I sure hope so; I don't want to go back to the factory cam.
Anywho, here's the pictures.

Carnage!! I'm surprised a flickering oil light was the only symptom. I don't know about crower cams, but I have a Kent 180 from Turner.
I made a table for my tire carrier today & yesterday. Looks simple, and I'm no perfectionist, but damn it ended up taking two 6 hour days to get done. Having a $15 tap and die set doesn't help either.. ended up having to use a crescent wrench for a tap wrench.
Also whipped up some removable tables with the scrap aluminum sheet and angle. Bonus, you could use these for campfire pot stands too

Yeah, that's the same cam I now previously had. I loved it, but I don't want to pay for 2 day shipping from the UK.
Your table looks awesome, Jeff! Definitely worth the investment to get some nice taps and a half decent tap wrench. It makes a world of difference. I never use nuts any more on anything I make.
Best, what was the number on that cam? Any idea? I checked Summit, but they're not showing anything on their website. I'll check eBay too.

I haven't installed the engine yet that I personally just put the Crower 53229 Cam in, but I've owned other D2's that had the same exact Crower Cam in it done by the previous owner. Zero complaints, but the Crower website will list the performance levels in case you want one with a little more performance vs MPG. I went with little performance increase and still decent MPG vs performance and zero MPG lol.

I was gonna go with the 53230 which is the next step up, but it says they're backordered 5 days. Same for the 53229 like yours looks like I'm gonna be going for the 53231 which has 8* more duration and more lift. Wasn't my first choice, but I'm good with it anyway. Better than going back stock.

Jeff, l'd add another screw/roller for the cable, down low on the upright, at a point where when you close the table it pulls the cable tight...less chance of rubbing on the paint of your door or listening to them rattle. Not trying to be critical, just a thought.
Looks great though, two thumbs up.
Brian.
