I just purchased this disco 2. Aside from everything leaking the engine sounded good at normal idle and at high rpm.
Code wise the car seemed clean ( For the engine that is it looks like I'll need a MAF sensor)

I'm going to take a snake camera and check out Each piston housing from the bottom.


I have a dream that this is the 2nd oil Pan on this disco and it was left over from a different Engine? But that seems extremely unlikely.

removed and replaced the radiator on one of my '04's. took about 4.5 hours. the hardest part was trying to figure out how to take the hoses off the transmission cooler. once i actually figured out the clamp rings it was easy.

refilled the system with premix coolant and one bottle of Purple ICE and the temps held steady with the A/C on at 183 F.

 

Actually Fastercat there was nothing major. With all things being plastic, it was relatively straight forward. As to the spotting that was on top of the recovery tank from leaking coolant, it could have been a combination of things that were slowly coming to together. From the cap that had a little crack, to the tank that had a pinhole, and the ends from the two 3/8" hose that were brittle, all went well. However, I am glad that this happened en route where there was a gas station where I could buy some coolant, and not on some abandoned forestry road where you have no cellular service.

 

Sometimes all you need is some MAF cleaner that comes in a spray. This is a specific cleaner and do not use anything else. CRC makes it.

 

Drove to Minneapolis for Father’s Day. Changed back to Rotella 15w-40 from Castro’s 10w-40, and maybe coincidentally the truck ran cooler. I was at 195 most of the way. Now, I was not loaded as heavily as usual so that may have done it, but am usually at 198-200.

It is running really well now after some ticky tack CkPS and Brake light Switch issues. I do regret not doing the online thermostat mod and using Britpart hoses during my HG saga. I’d rather have genuine hoses in there in there.

Also, I like the remote oil cooler I put in, was a fun install, and it does take heat out of the system, but hindsight being 20/20 I would put in a stock oil cooler with lines from Trailhead. Didn’t know about the trailhead lines last year.

 

Thanks for the tip on Trailhead lines, I've always been looking for replacement soft lines for the oil cooler and tranny. Do you have links? I've also looked at aftermarket oil/trans coolers but finding one in similar dimensions hasn't yielded any results. What is your oil temp?

I'm currently doing some surgery.. I might be crazy but I think it will turn out good. Fitting hydraulic bump stops in the rear spring perches

Found them. Pricey. $650 for both oil and trans lines. Pretty sure those are just standard AN fittings and some hose... but a ready to go package is appealing, I'm not too keen on trying to figure out what fittings are the right ones
