Tried to punch off tang at bottom of heli coil like instructions say but it bent instead of breaking off. So now I need a bolt that doesn't quite reach end of heli coil insert because I do not want to re-do the damn thing.
cut it with a dremel

I Just got that same tent but haven’t brought it on a trial yet. How does the D2 handle? I went with load bars instead of a rack to get it as low to the roof as possible.

haven’t done anything technical yet but you can definitely tell it’s there on the highway (no sway bars). I had Voyager make me a custom rack. It can’t get any tighter to the roof and it’s awesome. The tent is fantastic. Though my rig is tall and it’s way up there lol the Velcro that holds the ladder when stowed I can tell won’t last long. Simple enough to come up with another solution that won’t break free when trying to set up the tent.

Huge HUGE thanks to mln_01 who pulled a set of Kalahari wheels out of the junk yard for me and held them for two weeks until I could get down to him and pick them up. He took his own time and a not insignificant amount of effort to no benefit of his own. Finally met up with him today to reimburse him and pick up the wheels. Super friendly guy, glad I got to meet and chat with him for a while.

Thanks brother! Can't wait to get these mounted.

My pleasure, Alex, and it was great to meet you too.

Actually, maybe it wasn't all my pleasure. It was actually a good bit of work. But like you, I didn't want to see them go to the crusher.

We harvested a good deal of the special stuff off this Kalahari. You got the wheels. (Four of them anyway; I still can't figure out why just the left front was gone before I got there. The lugnuts are there still, on the ground.). I got the Safarigard rock sliders, although I bought them from another guy who got there before Ken and I did. Ken got the Land Rover Special Vehicles plate from the front bulkhead and mailed it to Best4x4. And I got the hard to find auxiliary light switch.

We don't see DIIs in the boneyards here very often anymore. It's good to see that members of this community got a few goodies from this one.
