I replaced the coolant tanks on both my 07 and 06 with the Mahle brand. I am happy with them. They’re sold on RockAuto without the sensor, so be sure to buy one of those too if you go with Mahle.

Just make sure the pressure cap is correct! As yours shows, the LR3 is 16psi. But all too often people end up with LR4 tanks and those trucks run at something like 36 or 40psi. As for brands of tanks, OEM is best and Rein is often OEM re-boxed (not always). You can also look on Parts Geek. They have "genuine" products which are OEM with badging removed (pretty common thing, even with the stuff I get imported). Avoid Dorman and ÜRO for sure.

The Mahle tanks are sold without a pressure cap. I reused the factory caps on my replacements, they were still in good shape.

Solid point though on the caps.

Aftermarket parts are very frustrating. I avoid Rein after buying a BMW radiator hose that had a pin hole leak in the plastic elbow. It was clear to me after comparison that their off-OEM-spec parts were used on their aftermarket brands. Real sour taste after that. Similar experience with Dorman on a Ford blend door actuator.

It’s not always straightforward to find the real OEM parts, the ones with the factory logos ground off. It does feel like a win when you do!

Thank you for all the info! Has anyone tried to swap the sensor rod from one tank to another? It sounds like it's usually the float that goes bad on these but if it's not possible to access without pulling the tank replacing makes sense too.

I'm going to order a new cap to go with the tank just because it looks like the tank and possibly the cap was replaced with a questionable part at some point.

You can swap the sensor, but there’s a good chance you’ll break it. One of mine was split through the stem, the other was probably reusable.

The float in the tank is what fails.

Almost the middle of winter and despite it being quite mild we had a cold snap over the weekend with snow down to 1000m, went camping with a group of people i hadn't met before and had a ball.

Default Put on new tires (again)

I had two sidewall blow outs in 8 days and I was forced to replace all four.

I had Cooper Discovery HT plus, and now I put on Cooper Discoverer AT3 these are LT 265/60R18.

Since I used the mall crawler to take the wheels in to be replaced, I have not had it off the homestead and out on the highway yet. But for off road work, they seem to be just fine, no rubbing or other obvious issues.

Tread seems a little more aggressive than the HT plus

I had Cooper Zeon LTZ installed when I first got my LR3. Amazing tire. Love Coopers. Now I have Bridgestone, horrible AT tire that is horrific in snow. Ugh...

My Wifes' 2008 HSE mall crawler has 19 inch wheels (for now). Since we have moved to the homestead, we don't cruise too many malls, so she is getting new wheels and tires before winter.

Not the LR3, but replaced the front control arms on my L322 HSE and it's kind of infuriating how easy they are compared to do vs the LR3.

Each side was about 30 min to do (minus jacking it up and taking off the wheel)
